Welcome 2021
Greetings, you must be a Survivor of 2020. Welcome.
This blog has been dormant for months. My thought was, I’ll just drop back in and begin the year with some medical marvel or healthy food revelation. The truth is, I have spent the last several days trying to complete this blog entry. The topic was about the consequences of eating ‘fake foods’ that contain artificial-colors, flavors, sweeteners, preservatives. Great detail went into that blog. The plan was to discuss the researched results of continuous consumption of these artificial additives?
Then. The reality of the past year struck me. The events of 2020 have left an indelible mark on me. Maybe it has left a mark on you. I was about to hit ‘publish’ on Day 6, of 2021, when the events of that day took my breath away! Until now my posts have been relegated to discussing Health news & views. “……we pause our regular programming for some ‘breaking news”! You and I have survived a pandemic and now a possible “insurrection”, all in less than a year.
Life, as we once knew it, has changed. It would be nice to ease back to the discussion food insecurities and chemical additives. [That truck has left the garage]. We have been broadsided by the events of a new day. I would like to engage you, the reader. Would you like to express how the pandemic has changed or influenced your food consumption or purchasing?
- Do you buy more comfort foods now then in 2019?
- Do news events affect you, your family? Are you cooking more or less? Are you eating, more or less?
- Do you order out more or less?
Your input will be part of the turning point for this blog. The transformation starts now.
I appreciate your continued support. It has been months since I last published. My time and attention was directed towards a project that required more of my time than I had planned. More about that project later.
What is most pressing to me is the need for our collective attention on health and survival. My husband’s uncle was among the first of the Covid 19 patients to succumb to the disease in the Bronx, March 2020. His age and metabolic health issues may have been contributors. However, he only went to the hospital because of a fall he had in the tub. Just observation. Gone (died) 72 hours later! A Pastor I know lost his sister (85 yo) and niece (57 yo). The niece had attended a funeral in California. She didn’t feel well upon returning back to Philadelphia. She shared the house with her mother. They both fell ill within days of her return. They were both admitted to the hospital within days of one another. Two weeks later they died within days of one another. This is the scariest disease I have ever known. The Pastor never got to say goodbye. There was no funeral. He was only allowed to follow the hearse to the burial grounds.
The topics in the 2021 blog will be hard-hitting and maybe even controversial. Let’s discuss food and environmental toxins that are leading us to diseases and early death. We will discuss carcinogens, obesity, diabetes, heart disease and food related causes. Let’s call it what it is, the ‘fattening’ of Americans. The ‘sick-care’ business is booming. Thirty-three percent of Americans are diabetic! One of two will develop cancer. That means, if not me, then you! We have more digital technology and sicker people. According to USA Today, “..People are living longer, but sicker”. Bigger question, why and sicker from what? Looking at the research of the Rand report (webpage below), “Obesity is worse than smoking, drinking or poverty”, what? Are we really overfed and under nourished? The risks, the remedies and the realities are forthcoming. Stay Safe, wear a mask, read the labels!
