When the diet is wrong, medicine is of no use! When the diet is correct, medicine is of no need!

- Ayurvedic proverb

Welcome Truth Seekers

The IJS Blog is dedicated to a weekly commentary on Common Sense and Credible answers to Health & Nutrition concerns. Extensive time and research has revealed some inconsistencies as it relates to Wellness.

Is this a one-of-kind Blog? I would like to believe that it is. What I do believe is that you will enjoy information from another perspective. The views are from Scientists, researchers, nutritionists, pharmacists and other Allied Health professionals. I worked as an educator/instructor in post-secondary allied health for many years. I have noticed many things, one thing in particular is, we have more medicine and technology than ever before, yet we have more Sick People.

Eating to Live

This blog concept began with Why questions. Like;

⦁ Why are so many people Diabetic? Who is more likely to develop this disease?

⦁ Why are so many women developing Breast Cancer?

⦁ Why have we become more susceptible to Heart Attack/Stroke now more ever before?

⦁ Why are so many elderly people developing Alzheimer’s disease? How did that Happen?

⦁ Are there really More Overweight people in the U.S.A. than Underweight?

⦁ What is the major cause of Obesity? What’s in that snack? How did we get so sick? Did you get a Flu Shot?

I am in Food/Nutrition Recovery myself. I trusted what I was being told about the food I was eating, the Rx’s I was taking and the household products I was buying. Like many, I never questioned my purchases or the things I was putting in the cart and then my home. I’m not sure what caused the inspection, then intra-spection, then the investigation with conversations, and now the education and information. What I have researched, read, and hours of lectures listen to I am now sharing with You.

The Truth Seekers are like me-Change Agents. I will share with you what I have found and you may share your findings with me and the others.
I don’t have All the answers. I would dare say, I am skimming the top of the water with some of this information. It is not my Intention to call out, shame, blame or defame any group, business, product line, industry, politicians or government agencies. I will present the facts as I/we find them.

Health Education and Information from a Consumers Perspective!

We focus on making sure your daily life is set up for success. We will explore nutrition, food and the differences. The Body Clock, Aging, and more!

Dr. R. Renzi has been a practicing Podiatrist in Metro Philadelphia and surrounding suburbs for more than 25 years. He served on the Global Lower Extremity Amputation Study Group and published an article in the British Journal of Surgery. His work has been cited in several medical journals.

Dr. Renzi is the Director of  ‘Save Your Soles’, a grassroots campaign and effort to reduce limb amputations in the black male community in Philadelphia. In 2018 he received the “Courage to Make a Difference” award presented to him by  Abington Hospital/Jefferson Health System where has been a staff member since 1991.  Dr. Renzi is a member of the American Podiatric Medicine Association and a graduate of Temple University’s school of Podiatric Medicine.

I heard of Dr. Renzi’s extraordinary work almost two years before we met 2018. He has cataloged how many amputees (black men) reside in Philadelphia by zip code. Dr. Renzi is not just talking about the problem, he is in community getting the word out about limb, foot, and ankle health. He attends numerous community health fairs, as time permits. When I finally met him 2018 he was in a squatting position screening people for potential foot/ankle problems. He uses an audible vascular device to listen to the blood flow of the participant. This method determines any potential problems in the future.  So many lives and limbs have been saved because of his tireless efforts to educate the community. This is a phenomenal man. I am pleased to be associated with him.

He was introduced to this new eating life–style in 1983. Chef James began to work in the catering  field with his specialties of Gourmet and Heart-healthy food alternatives. Chef James has been Vegan for two years and vegetarian most of his life. He holds the coveted award, (3) Years in a row, for the annual East Falls Chili Cook-Off-Vegan style.

Chef James is the Vegetarian/vegan instructor at Temple University’s Community program-PASCEP, which is where I met him. He has had eating locations throughout the city. The most notable one was at Upsal Train Station-‘Cafe Mills’. He is exploring a new location for 2019.
