Non-Alcoholic Cirrhosis of the Liver?

What is That? I heard of Cirrhosis of the liver from drinking too much, But you say I can get this from Food? Yes, read on.  Non-alcoholic cirrhosis is stage #2 of  fatty liver disease. Fatty liver develops when the body creates too much fat or can’t metabolize (breakdown)  fat efficiently. The excess fat is stored in liver cells where it accumulates and causes fatty liver disease.

First, the Greek term for Liver is, Hepat/o. ‘Cirrho’ color, tawny or yellowing. ‘osis’, condition. So, a condition of Yellowing (also, scaring) of the Liver.
Second, The Functions of the liver are many (approx.500) and all are critical to the Health of the individual. Specifically, the Liver is responsible for:
⦁ Production of bile, which helps carry away waste and break down fats in the small intestine during digestion
⦁ Production of certain proteins for blood plasma
⦁ Production of cholesterol and special proteins to help carry fats through the body
⦁ Conversion of excess glucose ( SUGAR) into glycogen for storage (glycogen can later be converted back to glucose for energy) and to balance and make glucose as needed
⦁ Regulation of blood levels of amino acids, which form the building blocks of proteins
⦁ Processing of hemoglobin for use of its iron content (the liver stores iron)
⦁ Conversion of poisonous ammonia to urea (urea is an end product of protein metabolism and is excreted in the urine)
⦁ Clearing the blood of drugs and other poisonous substances
⦁ Regulating blood clotting
⦁ Clearance of bilirubin, also from red blood cells. If there is an accumulation of bilirubin, the skin and eyes turn yellow.  Resisting infections by making immune factors and removing bacteria from the bloodstream

When the liver has broken down harmful substances, the by-products are excreted into the bile or blood. Bile by-products enter the intestine and leave the body in the form of feces. Blood by-products are filtered out by the kidneys, and leave the body in the form of urine.

One of the major functions of the liver is the metabolizing (breaking down) foods. The body needs to get the maximum use of the nutrients for cell, tissue growth and sustaining life. The Liver stores fats & glucose for energy, and blocks poison from entering the blood stream and killing us. In other words, the Liver has its own production staff to maintain your health:
⦁ There is a  Security Guard at the Gate-Blocking Poisons that may try to Enter
Alcohol, yes that glass of Wine!  fried foods , white bread, pasta,  added sugar
⦁ The Forklift Operator in the factory is stacking and putting things away like your excess carbs and sugars
⦁ The Shift Manager is on the floor making sure each section is working
⦁ The Inventory Clerk is checking stored products (glycogen)  for later energy use
⦁ The Distribution & Delivery departments at the Plant dispatches cleaned blood products to the whole Unit-body.

So, what’s the problem? The problem is your Diet and  your Exercise routine.

  • If you can’t remember the last time you walked around the block or don’t know the name of the cross-street near your house,
  • If you look in your Cart and Everything is in a  box, frozen bag,  can, or Soda bottle,
  • If your Diet consists of processed foods containing, HFCS, High Fructose Corn Syrup, additives-you can’t pronounce, MSG, artificial food dyes & artificial food coloring,
  • If you have a regular dose of  Rx drugs and OTC (over the counter) drugs,

Well, you may be over-taxing the Liver. Look, I’m in recovery too. But after you see the data, it changes things.

The Research is in. Non-Alcoholic, Fatty-Cirrhosis of the Liver Disease. a.k.a, NAFLD is increasing substantially and the victims are getting younger. The consumption of Non-nutritive, high caloric foods must be metabolized like the broccoli, apples, and bread. The difference is, if the body can’t use what was eaten, that food doesn’t disappear! It gets stored as fat until it can be broken down in some form of energy.

What are the Causes? All the usual suspects!

  • Overweight or obesity
  • Insulin resistance, in which your cells don’t take up sugar in response to the hormone insulin
  • High blood sugar (hyperglycemia), indicating pre-diabetes or actual type 2 diabetes
  • High levels of fats, particularly triglycerides, in the blood

The Liver will send the food to the Storage room where it will sit until the Utilization crew, at the request of the Brain, comes for it. Who knows how long that process may be? It’s kind of like going to the DMV to update your vehicle registration. You go early to beat the crowd and end up being number #245 anyway. Dang!
Health Markers – Some Key indicators you may need to Check

You may recognize some of the Overcrowded Sections of your Storage Facility! Belly, Butt, and Thighs. I’m Just Sayin’.
